It’s bound to happen. You hit the road with a wonderful trip full of outdoor activities planned, only to discover the forecast has changed. It calls for rain. Maybe it’s one day and perhaps it’s for the duration of the entire trip. Whatever the length of time, it’s important to plan ahead so you can enjoy your time on the road even in the midst of crummy weather. Planning ahead helps you make lemonade out of lemons!
The first step to combating a rainy day is to have plenty of activities planned for inside of your RV. Bring along games, movies, coloring books and maybe even a gaming device so you have plenty to do. Ensuring the interior is stocked with plenty of age appropriate activities for the family can help make the day pass quickly.
You’ll also want to ensure you’ve got good food on hand. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying a rainy day by watching movies and indulging in good food, dessert and snacks. After all, that’s what vacation is all about.
Now, another options, if you’re brave enough to venture out in the crummy weather is to look up local indoor attractions. Check out museums, look for laser tag or bowling alleys and pack the kids up. It’s a great way to make memories and try something new.
The final piece of the rainy day puzzle is to simply head out and do what you plan to do. As long as there isn’t any thunder or lighting, the worst that can happen is you’ll get wet. How fun would it be to ride your bike in the rain or take a hike in the rain. It’ll provide a totally new experience and you might even see animals that only come out when it’s raining.
